ETD-010 – Marketplace Listing Standards
Plain Language Summary
The ETD Marketplace is designed to help customers quickly locate available products and services during roadside emergencies and other tire-related situations.
These Marketplace Listing Standards help ensure that listings are accurate, relevant, transparent, and trustworthy so customers can make informed purchasing decisions.
Every marketplace participant is responsible for maintaining listings that accurately represent the products and services being offered.
1. Purpose
The purpose of these Marketplace Listing Standards is to establish consistent requirements for all listings published on the ETD Marketplace.
These Standards are intended to:
- Promote customer trust.
- Improve marketplace quality.
- Reduce misleading listings.
- Encourage transparent pricing.
- Improve search relevance.
- Help customers locate products and services that are actually available.
2. Applicability
These Standards apply to every listing published on the ETD Marketplace, including but not limited to:
- Tires
- Wheels
- Mobile Tire Installation
- Emergency Tire Delivery
- Commercial Tire Services
- Roadside Tire Services
- Future listing categories approved by ETD.
3. Listing Accuracy
Every listing should accurately represent:
- the price
- the product
- the service
- availability
- condition
- specifications
- photographs
- service area
Listings should never intentionally mislead customers.
4. Pricing Transparency and Honest Advertising
EmergencyTireDelivery.com (“ETD”) believes that honest pricing is fundamental to building trust between motorists, providers, and the ETD Marketplace.
Marketplace participants are expected to advertise products and services in a manner that allows customers to make informed purchasing decisions before committing to a purchase.
Pricing should be accurate, transparent, and presented in a way that minimizes misunderstandings during what are often stressful roadside emergencies.
Providers are expected to:
- Display the actual selling price of advertised products whenever reasonably possible.
- Clearly identify what is included in the advertised price.
- Clearly disclose any known mandatory charges that apply to the transaction before the customer agrees to purchase.
- Maintain reasonably current pricing information.
- Honor advertised pricing except in cases of genuine pricing errors or clearly disclosed conditions beyond the provider’s control.
Prohibited Pricing Practices
To promote a fair and trustworthy marketplace, the following practices are prohibited:
- Advertising FREE when payment is required.
- Advertising $0.00 or $1.00 as a placeholder price when it does not represent the actual selling price.
- Advertising intentionally misleading prices designed primarily to generate inquiries.
- Using deceptive “starting at” pricing without clearly explaining what is included.
- Advertising inventory that is unavailable for the purpose of attracting customers.
- Failing to disclose known mandatory charges before the customer commits to the purchase.
Call for Price
Except where pricing cannot reasonably be determined in advance due to legitimate variables, providers should display the actual selling price of advertised products and services.
Listings that rely solely on phrases such as “Call for Price” or similar wording, without a legitimate reason, are inconsistent with ETD’s commitment to pricing transparency.
Whenever pricing depends on variables such as travel distance, after-hours service, specialty equipment, commercial vehicle requirements, or other factors, providers should clearly explain how pricing is determined and disclose those factors before the customer agrees to the purchase.
The ETD Pricing Principle
ETD believes customers should know, before making a purchasing decision, the price they can reasonably expect to pay for the advertised product or service.
Unexpected price increases, hidden mandatory fees, and misleading pricing practices undermine customer confidence and are inconsistent with the values of the ETD Marketplace.
Transparent pricing benefits motorists, providers, and the Marketplace by reducing misunderstandings, improving customer satisfaction, and strengthening long-term trust.
5. Tire Listing Standards
No tire whether new, never used or used should be advertised on the platform if they are not roadworthy, are unsafe or if they don’t meet the following minimum requirements to be listed.
Our minimum safety requirements are:
- No tires older than 6 years when sold.
- Minimum tire tread depth 5/32.
- No dry rot.
- No bulges.
- No sidewall damage.
- No exposed cords.
- No uneven wear.
- No cupping.
- No cracking.
- No flat spots.
- No structural damage.
- No repairs.
- No Plugs.
- No Patches.
- No tares
Tires should be represented honestly through accurate descriptions and photographs whenever practical and should also satisfy all local and state tire sale restrictions if any.
6. Inventory Availability
A listing should remain active only while the advertised product or service is reasonably available.
Providers should promptly update or remove listings when:
- inventory is sold
- inventory becomes unavailable
- services are discontinued
- pricing changes substantially
- listing information becomes inaccurate
Keeping unavailable listings active diminishes marketplace trust and negatively affects the customer experience.
7. Service Listings
Service providers should accurately disclose:
- Hours
- Service Area
- Types of vehicles
- Emergency availability
- Appointment requirements
- Travel limitations
- Communicate Prices Honestly
8. Delivery Listings
Delivery providers should clearly disclose:
- Whether delivery is offered.
- Delivery area.
- Delivery fees.
- Mileage limitations.
- Estimated response times.
9. Professional Communication
Providers should respond professionally.
If unavailable:
Update the listing.
Don’t leave customers wondering.
10. Listing Maintenance
Providers are responsible for maintaining:
- Prices
- Inventory
- Phone numbers
- Hours
- Photos
- Availability
- Business information
11. Marketplace Integrity
Marketplace participants are expected to conduct business fairly and professionally while respecting the integrity of the ETD Marketplace.
Providers should avoid conduct that intentionally undermines other marketplace participants or creates confusion for customers.
12. Listing Review
ETD may:
- request corrections
- temporarily hide listings
- remove inaccurate listings
- suspend or remove repeat offenders
13. Customer Trust
Every listing published on the ETD Marketplace contributes to the reputation of the Marketplace as a whole.
Providers who maintain accurate listings, transparent pricing, honest communications, and current inventory help strengthen customer confidence and improve the experience for everyone.
